Biography:
Jaclyn Gailit-Lutz has been involved with the arts since she was a small child and has many qualifications to
instruct the art of dance. During her junior year of high school, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in the dance field.
To gain more stage experience, Jaclyn performed in the musicals "Oklahoma" and "Guys and Dolls" at Loyalsock
Township High School. She was also involved with dance competitions such as "Funfest" in Hazelton, PA and "Starquest"
in Cherry Hill, NJ. Jaclyn received the Suzette Lynn Bierman-Bedford Memorial Award her senior year at Loyalsock Township
High School. Not only did she earn this award for her artistic and theatrical abilities, but also for her hard work and motivation.
In 1997, Jaclyn attended Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where she had an outstanding creative experience.
In 2001, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Related Arts/Dance. During her freshman year, Jaclyn became a member
of Kutztown University's dance company, the Performing Dance Portmanteau. She pursued the company for four years under the
direction of Professor Joyce Campbell. While in the company, Jaclyn created a few major works of choreography, including
her senior show, "The Circus of Life," and reconstructed Anton Dolin's 19th century ballet, "Pas de Quatre."
Jaclyn was Treasurer of the dance company in 1999-2000 and President of the company in 2000-2001. Besides choreographing
for the company, Jaclyn also created twenty or more dances in her technique classes during her four years of college. Some
of these dances were performed at Kutztown University's Fall Student Dance Concerts under the direction of Dr. Leslie Netting.
Jaclyn received the Dean Lenhart Memorial Award her senior year of college. Dean Lenhart was the founder of the dance company,
and the award was given out to one senior member who showed outstanding creativity and took that "extra step."
Jaclyn's dance education not only consisted of many technique and choreography classes, but she was also enrolled
in courses such as Dance History, Musical Theater, Dance Production, Conditioning for Dancers, Dance Alignment, and Senior
Seminar. She also took an Independent Study in which she was an Assistant to her Ballet Professor, Joyce Campbell.
During college, Jaclyn attended master classes at Kutztown University given by MOMIX, the Martha Graham Company, Mark
Morris Company, David Parsons Company, and several others. Her senior year, she had the opportunity to work with a professional
modern dancer/teacher, Columbine Macher, from the Limon Institute who choreographed for "PDP."
Not
only did her college education involve dance, she also had two supplemental areas in Music and Visual Arts. In Music, she
completed courses in Piano, Voice, Music History and Music Theory. In Visual Arts, she completed classes in Drawing, Crafts
(Wood, Metals, Ceramics), Art History and Art Criticism. Being educated in these areas has enhanced Jaclyn's ability to choreograph
and understand her art to the fullest.
After college graduation, Jaclyn taught and choreographed at Turning
Pointe Dance in Williamsport, PA, with her mother, Diane Gailit for two years. When her mother moved to Florida in November
2004, Jaclyn took over the studio responsibilites. Currently, Jaclyn is the Artistic Director and Owner of Turning Pointe
School of Ballet (Formerly known as Turning Pointe Dance).
Recently, Jaclyn Gailit-Lutz choreographed the
musical "Anything Goes" at Lycoming College, which ran from 10/11/05 - 10/15/05.
During her free
time, Jaclyn loves to read, jog, travel, and spend time with her Jack Russell Terrier, Baxter, and kitten, Isabelle. Jaclyn
also plays the drums in "Violet Eye" and "Swarm of Bees" with her husband, Justin Lutz.
