Dress Code

Pre-School Tap/Ballet:  Pink or Black leotard; Pink or Black tights; Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes; Black tap shoes. Ballet dresses, skirts, and tutus are permitted.                                                                                            

KinderKids Tap/Ballet:  See Pre-School requirements above.

Kids Tap/Ballet Combo:  Pink or Black leotard; Pink or Black tights; Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes; Black tap shoes. Ballet skirts are permitted.

Ballet/Pointe:  Black leotard; Pink or Black tights; Pink canvas or leather ballet shoes for Ballet; Pink pointe shoes for Pointe. Ballet skirts or ballet shorts are permitted. Legwarmers are also permitted.

Contemporary/Modern:Acrobatics:  Solid color leotard, tank top, or cami (crop tops and supportive bra tops are permitted); Dance shorts, tights, or leggings are permitted. No shoes required (socks are permitted)

Lyrical: Solid color leotard; Dance shorts, tights, or leggings; Half-sole Lyrical Shoes

Acrobatics/AcroBallet: Solid color leotard; Dance shorts, tights, or leggings. No shoes for Acrobatics; Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes for AcroBallet

Tap:  Fitted t-shirt, tank top, or cami; Leotards are suggested, but not required; Jazz pants, leggings, tights, or dance shorts; Black jazz-tap shoes.

Jazz/Musical Theatre:  Solid color leotard, tank top, or cami (crop tops and supportive bra tops are permitted); Jazz pants, dance shorts, tights, or leggings are permitted. Black or tan jazz shoes for Jazz; Black or tan grecian sandals for Musical Theatre.

Jazz Funk: Comfortable clothing that allows students to move freely. No jeans or baggy shirts. Sneakers. Bring your baseball caps!

Boys and Men:  Black or White t-shirt; Black jazz pants, track pants, or shorts; Black jazz-tap shoes for Tap; Black ballet shoes for Ballet; Black jazz shoes for jazz; NO shoes required for Acrobatics, Contemporary, Modern, or Lyrical.

Conditioning: Fitted shirt, tank, or cami (crop tops and supportive bra tops are permitted); Shorts, leggings, track pants; Sneakers/Running Shoes.

 

DRESS CODE NOTES:

1 - All students at TPSB must follow the dress code. Proper attire helps Miss Jackie recognize incorrect body alignment and make corrections on body placement.

2 - Baggy clothing, jeans, and bulky jewelry are not permitted in any class.

3 - Hair should be secured neatly off of the face.  Ballet and pointe students must wear their hair in a bun. Students with shorter hair must wear a headband or bobby-pins to keep hair out of the eyes. Long pony-tails and braids are a safety hazard to all students.

4 - NO STREET SHOES on the dance floor, unless given permission to do so. 

 

Class Descriptions and Requirements

Pre-School Tap/Ballet Combo (age 3-5):  A basic level combination class in tap and classical ballet, utilizing creative movement.

KinderKids Tap/Ballet Combo (age 5-6): A basic level combination class in tap and classical ballet.

Kids Combo Tap/Ballet Combo (age 6-8):  An beginner level combination class in tap and classical ballet.

Ballet/Jazz Combo (age 8-10): A beginner level combination class in classical ballet and jazz.

Open Teen/Adult Ballet (age 13+):  An open level classical ballet class for the recreational student. ALL levels welcome. No experience required.

Ballet II (age 9-19):  An intermediate level classical ballet class for the more serious student.  Previous ballet training is recommended. 

Ballet III/IV (age 12+):  An advanced level classical ballet class for the serious student.  Previous ballet training is required.  By Invitation Only.

Pre-Pointe/Pointe I (age 9+):  A beginner level pre-pointe/pointe class for the serious student. Pre-Pointe students will dance in flat ballet shoes. Pointe I students will dance "en pointe." Students must execute appropriate ballet strength and clean technique to dance on their toes, regardless of age.  STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ENROLL IN AT LEAST 1 ADDITIONAL BALLET CLASS (AcroBallet and Lyrical will not replace a required ballet class).  By Invitation Only.

Pointe II/III (age 12+):  An intermediate/advanced level pointe class for the more serious student.  STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ENROLLED IN AT LEAST 1 ADDITIONAL BALLET CLASS (AcroBallet and Lyrical will not replace a required ballet class).  By Invitation Only.

Dance Company - Pointe (age 11-19): An advanced level pointe class for Dance Company members only. Students must be enrolled in Contemporary Dance Company plus a minimum of 2 additional ballet/pointe classes and 2 technique classes in Modern, Lyrical, Jazz, Musical Theatre, or Contemporary. (6 classes total). Students are required to take classes at TPSB year round to participate. By Invitation Only.  

Modern (age 11+): A beginner/intermediate level modern class. Several techniques will be introduced, as well as, improvisational movement. Previous dance experience is recommended.

Open Contemporary (age 11+): An open level contemporary class with a fusion of modern, jazz, and ballet technique. Previous dance experience is required.

Contemporary Dance Company (age 12+):  An advanced level contemporary dance class with a fusion of modern, jazz, and ballet technique for the serious, highly dedicated dancer.  Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 2 ballet/pointe classes and 2 technique class in Lyrical, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Modern, or Contemporary. (5 classes total, unless also participating in Dance Company - Pointe). Students are required to take classes year round to participate. By Invitation Only. 

Kids Lyrical (age 7-10): A beginner level lyrical class, combining ballet and jazz dance for the younger student.

Lyrical (age 10+):  An advanced beginner lyrical class, combining ballet and jazz dance. 

Int/Adv Lyrical (age 12+):  An intermediate/advanced lyrical class, combining ballet and jazz dance. By Invitation Only.

Jazz (age 10+):  An advanced beginner level jazz class for the recreational student. Previous dance experience is required. 

Int/Adv Jazz (age 12+):  An intermediate/advanced level jazz class for the more serious student, incorporating traditional and theatre jazz styles.  By Invitation Only.

Musical Theatre Jazz (age 11-19):  A beginner/intermediate level theatre jazz class.  Previous dance training is recommended, but not required.

Jazz Funk (age 10-19): An open level class combining jazz and hip-hop. All levels. No experience required.

Basic Tap (age 8+):  A basic level tap class for the recreational student.  No previous tap dance training is required to enroll.

Tap II (age 8-13):  An advanced beginner level tap class for the recreational student, utilizing traditional and rhythm tap.  Previous tap dance experience is recommended. 

Teen/Adult Tap II (age 13+): An intermediate level tap class for Teens and Adults. Previous tap experience is required. By Invitation Only.

Tap III/IV (age 12+):  An intermediate/advanced level tap class for the serious tap student.  Previous tap dance experience is REQUIRED to enroll.  By Invitation Only.

Acrobatics (age 6-10):  A beginner level acrobatics class.  This class integrates dance and gymnastic floor work.

Int/Adv AcroBallet (age 10-19):  An intermediate/advanced level acrobatics class that integrates ballet and gymnastic floor work.  This class integrates ballet and gymnastics floorwork.  By Invitation Only.                                             

Conditioning For Dancers (age 11+): A conditioning class for dancers that focuses on cardio, barrework, yoga, resistance bands, and Pilates-based exercises. Great for cross-training. Previous dance experience recommended.

Adult Conditioning (age 17+): A conditioning class that focuses on cardio, barrework, yoga, resistance bands, and Pilates-based exercises for adults only. No dance experience required.
